Following the Oracle of Apollo’s, Oedipus killed his father, King Laius, by not knowing that the man was his own father. By giving the correct answer to the riddle of the Sphinx, Oedipus won the throne of the dead king and committed adultery with his mother, Queen Jocasta, again not knowing that she was his mother.
Sometimes it is not good enough to say that the sense of rationality is limited, or to say that you did not know because you believed in it blindly..
